Lasagna Soup by Don Emilio

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kilo of ground beef
  • 1 chopped yellow onion
  • 4-5 minced garlic cloves
  • 2-4 tbsp Macha Morita Don Emilio Sauce
  • 700 ml Italian Sauce (Prego, Barilla, Hunts, etc)
  • 8-10 cups of chicken broth divided
  • 4 peeled and crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp dehydrated basil
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 10 pcs of lasagna (cut from 2.5 to 5 cm)
  • 1/2 cup whole cream
  • Cheese garnish (Mozarella, grated Parmesan and Ricotta)

Directions:

  1. In a soup pot over medium high heat add the meat and onion, stirring occasionally until the meat is browned. Add the garlic and Macha Morita Don Emilio sauce and sauté for 30 seconds.
  1. Add the Italian sauce, 6 cups of chicken broth, crushed tomato, tomato paste, balsamic vinegar, sugar, parsley, oregano, bay leaf and lasagna pieces. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer until the lasagna is cooked, stirring occasionally (approximately 20 - 30 minutes).
  1. Discard the bay leaf and add the cream (optional). You can add the remaining chicken cups to reach the desired consistency. Decorate individual portions with the desired amount of cheese.
